In Tatneft Arena sports palace a press conference just was held. It was devoted to start of the first competitions in the history of University games on sambo. Questions of journalists were answered by the delegate of FISU Sergey Tabakov and the sporting director of FIAS Dmitry Maksimov.
Preliminary fights have already began. As a part of Russian national team – six world champions. The good competition, in addition to neighboring countries, as expected, the national teams of Japan, Korea, and also Italy can make. Last differs the strong female composition.
44 countries take part in the tournament. 18 sets of medals will be played. Number is not absolutely customary, athletes on combat sambo don’t take part in University games. As Sergey Tabakov speaks, as a whole it won’t affect a sport. Moreover, this tournament will promote sambo development in a pattern, to its promoting and advance to the Olympic purpose.
As a part of the participating countries there are not only members of the International Federation, but also the national teams which haven’t been registered in FIAS. So, tournament becomes more advantageous from the point of view of mass character.
